  • 1999

    Nick buys Easy Computers

    A small computer shop in Huddersfield with a £2000 loan. Sounds like a bargain!

    We start selling online

    Nick had an idea - Why not sell laptops over the web? We were one of the first in the country to do it and its safe to say it went pretty well!

  • 2003

    New Head Office

    We moved offices to a larger space, but as we're growing so it was almost full as soon as we moved in!

  • 2004

    Laptops Direct is born

    Branching out to sell more than just Acer, Nick remembers a web domain he bought back in 1999 - laptopsdirect.co.uk

  • 2006

    More Websites

    Both DirectTVs and Aircon Direct websites are launched, bringing the companies total websites to 4.

  • 2007

    We move, Again!

    Growing so quickly, we moved our head office and warehouse to a huge new site on Leeds Road, Huddersfield.

  • 2008

    The beginning of APD

    We bought failing company "Trade Appliances" and rebrand them into what is now our largest website, Appliances Direct.

  • 2010

    Even more space

    Appliances aren't small (at least, most of them aren't) so we bought a huge new warehouse in Derbyshire, as well opening a store there too!

  • 2010

    Insurance & White label

    We ventured into 2 new markets! Insurance replacement and white label partnerships with Debenhams and BHS.

  • 2011

    HQ revamp

    Our Huddersfield HQ is revamped to allow for a huge store as well as extending the existing office and warehouse space.

  • 2012

    Another Big Purchase

    Not one to sit still, we purchase online retailer Furniture123, giving us another huge category to sell to our customers.

  • 2015

    Taking to the skies

    Spotting another opportunity, we purchase drone retailer proflight-uk and rebrand them into Drones Direct.

  • 2017

    More warehouse space

    We bought a massive 250,000 sq ft. warehouse in Elland, to allow us to hold even more stock.

  • 2018

    More Expansion

    To help better serve the South coast we opened a new depot in Luton. Our success got recognised and we ranked 146 in the Sunday Times Top Track 250. We also took over Trojan Electronics this year too!

  • 2019

    A new company

    In 2019 we aquired the UKs largest bathroom retailer, BetterBathrooms. Our Furniture123 and Appliances Direct businesses won UK eCommerce awards. We also bought new warehouse space at our HQ.
