Our Directors

 

Nick Glynne

Our founder, Nick, graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Social Anthropology, then produced a series of documentaries for the BBC and Channel Four. He bought Easy Computers (now Laptops Direct) in 1999, and has since transformed a handful of other businesses through his mottos 'Anything is possible' and 'Detail is everything'.

On a weekend, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, and is looking forward to exciting adventures in his new campervan.

Nick's advice: Be yourself. Push your ideas. Work hard. Get noticed.

 

Andy Field

Andy graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in ‘93, before working at Insight, and then Dabs.com. He joined us in 2004, and now manages our commercial division getting the final say on every product we sell, to ensure a healthy mix of brands and a great customer experience.

Outside of work, Andy enjoys photography and cooking – you can even catch him in December 2016's episode of Come Dine With Me, in Huddersfield.

Andy’s advice: With the right work ethic you can achieve anything here.

 

Cassie Lindley

Cassie joined the world of work aged 9, with a 5am milk round. She went on to work her magic for Compass Group, Matalan and Cotton Traders, then joined us in October 2018, to implement her innovative, people-focused strategy.

In her free time, Cassie enjoys woodland walks with her family and setting herself challenges – before turning 40, Cassie completed her first 10k run in under an hour.

Cassie's advice: Build relationships across the business to achieve your goals.

 

James Rigg

James started working aged 15 by mowing his neighbours’ lawns, then bought a moped one year later to scale his business. In 2008, he joined our team to find new sales opportunities; since then, his department’s grown from 15 to 270+ people, and he’s helped countless teammates to become our future leaders.

Out of work, James is an adrenalin junkie, having skied all the black runs in Tignes and Val D'isere in one day.

James's advice: Never stop pushing boundaries; there's always a better way.

 

Simon Barnett

Before joining Buy It Direct Simon worked in various technology roles including IT systems design and support, software development and as Technical Director for several healthcare software businesses. Here his department supports and helps enable our rapid growth and changing business requirements.

Out of work Simon likes walking and climbing hills.

Simon’s advice: The best solutions start by understanding the business problem. The technology comes second.

 

Dan Myers

After graduating from Durham university, Dan enjoyed a 25-year profession in corporate finance and banking, followed by time as CFO for thebigword and VTL Group. In 2012, he supported our company with a temporary project, and later joined us permanently.

Out of work, Dan enjoys spending time with his family and walking; he once climbed 42 hills in 6 days to reach the height of Everest.

Dan’s advice: Grasp the opportunity; there’s a great career here for anyone who’s commercially-minded and hard working.

 

Paul Sims

After running a small chain of convenience stores, Paul began working in the contact centre industry. He worked hard and got numerous promotions along the way. Before joining Buy It Direct just over five years ago, he managed contact centres for EE, Tesco and TalkTalk Business.

Out of work, Paul is an avid equestrian and show ride judge. He was invited to judge at Windsor Castle for the Queen on a couple of occasions and rode 95 horses in 1 day.

Paul’s advice: Work hard, be dedicated, deliver with passion, and you will have a very bright future here.

"I completed my apprenticeship as a supply chain administrator then applied to be a buying assistant. I was so excited to get my promotion; my new role allows me to prioritise certain work while giving me added responsibilities."
