Buy It Direct is a strong supporter of Apprenticeships throughout the company, so if you are looking at getting your foot in the door then this is a great place to start. We currently have apprentices within a wide range of departments, including Customer Services, IT Technical Support, Warehousing, Order Processing Administration, and Commercial Team Administration. These each cover the relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification for their role, such as Customer Services, IT, Warehouse and Storage and Business Administration, so you really can pick the right area of interest for you.

We believe in growing our own talent and supporting young people to make it in to the working world, and an apprenticeship does right that. An apprenticeship gives you the chance to achieve a great qualification whilst gaining real experiences, in a real team, in a real company. More importantly for those that prove themselves, an offer of permanent employment will follow once you complete your apprenticeship. If you're good, we are not going to let you go easily!

The reason I chose to do an apprenticeship is because I believe it gives people more opportunities, rather than a full time job, as it gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, and most importantly gain the experience inside a real working environment. During the interview it also became clear that the company was participating in interesting projects which really gained my interest.

My role as an IT technician is quite varied and I have a number of responsibilities. My main duties include testing refurbished laptops, desktops and tablets before they go in to stock. I also install software and create recovery disks for customers' orders on laptops and desktops. I also work on the returns section of the tech team, where we test for faults and log them for repair with the manufacturer. I feel that I have settled in well, and my work colleagues have made me feel very welcome with a team spirit.

My role as a Commercial Administrator is quite varied and I have a number of responsibilities. My main duties include sending daily reports to the team, the purchase of stock, merchandising and the setting up of products which are then put live on the website. I also amend prices when needed on products such as laptops, desktops and servers.

Even though I haven't been at the company long I have settled quickly, and my work colleagues have made me feel very welcome. The company is a fantastic place to work and I have learnt a lot in my time here so far and I know that I will continue to progress throughout my time here.

I then saw the position to work as an apprentice at Buy It Direct as a Customer Services Apprentice and went ahead and applied.

I was lucky enough to get offered the apprentice position at Buy It Direct, and after 8 months of working in a busy customer service environment I passed my apprenticeship. I would not have been able to do this without the support and excellent training from the customer service team. After passing my apprenticeship Buy It Direct took me on full time. I have now been working for BID for a year and a half and have gained so much experience and confidence. Thank you BID for giving me the opportunity!
